Cineplex announces that they will reopen theatres in Alberta later this month

Well, despite feeling like a lifetime ago, it’s been just over a week since that the province decided that they would be moving to phase two of Alberta’s economic relaunch. This included gyms, more personal care services, and movie theatres! Among others. Unfortunately, we haven’t had the opportunity to sink into some theatre popcorn or catch a pre-show at the Cineplex. In fact, we weren’t even sure when we would be able to do so again, because they hadn’t made a formal announcement…. until now!
Canada’s largest movie exhibitor has finally said that they will begin reopening theatres across the country, starting right here in Alberta on Friday, June 26th.

The company has said that they also hope to resume operations in other cities across the country on July 3rd, as everyone begins to ease their restrictions.
Alberta’s rollout will only include 6 theatres to start, all of which will have introduced safety measures and increased sanitization practices. These new precautions will include reserved seating, an adjusted capacity, and staggered showtimes, so we have a ton of elbow room to look forward too!
Of course, because Hollywood is on hiatus, postponing production and pushing several film release dates to August, theatres will have to begin by showing classics. But hey, that’s better than nothing! Right? Right.
