Canmore’s quirkiest museum is also someone’s backyard fence


Here in Alberta, you’ll find the most magnificently odd people, places, and things where you’d expect them the least. In St.Paul, you’ll find the world’s only UFO landing pad, in several towns you can snap a pic with a statue of a miscellaneous menu item, and in Canmore, you can visit Curbside Museum, a gallery in a bubble mounted on someone’s fence.
Owners of the attraction describe it as ‘small and quirky’ and we couldn’t agree more. We literally couldn’t come up with a better description of this place.

Despite its out of the ordinary appearance and placement, this micro-seum is actually doing something pretty cool. Every 7 to 8 weeks, they will switch from one exhibit to another, sometimes even featuring a local artist.
Other times, the window will be filled with a collection of nostalgia-inducing, relevant to the time, or thought-provoking objects. Because the project often goes unnoticed to those who aren’t local to the area, they’ve had the creative freedom to create some insane installations.
You can actually see all of their past works on their website here! Trust us, it gets a bit wild. For this reason, if you’re in the area, we’d definitely recommend checking it out – who the hell knows what these guys will come up with next!
