Canadians will be able to catch a gorgeous meteor shower next week

We think we could use a bit of a break from everything happening on earth, which is why we’re looking to the sky for entertainment. Luckily, the big beautiful bubble outside the stratosphere is delivering! Not only have we already seen the super pink moon, but we’ll also have a front-row seat to the Lyrid meteor shower.

Between Thursday, April 16th and the 25th you’ll be able to catch the oldest observed celestial light show. If you’re not willing to stay up all night, every night, that’s fair. We’d at least recommend checking out just before dawn during its peak, Tuesday, April 22nd.

This particular meteor shower is a bit unpredictable, but typically viewers can catch at least 20 meteors an hour if there’s a clear sky. It’s best seen away from city lights, so you might have to take a bit of a drive.

These bad boys are bright, but they’re pretty fast so you’ll have to keep your peepers peeled, but it’ll be totally worth it, trust us. Happy viewing, folks!
