As consumers. we don’t trust telecommunications companies. But, credit where credit is due, because Rogers, Telus, and Bell have all waived home internet overage fees, at least through the end of April. Meanwhile, Shaw doesn’t charge overage fees, but they’re opening up access to Shaw Go WiFi to anyone.

CTV News, which broke the story over the weekend, is owned by Bell, so we’re taking their word for it. Plus, Shaw tweeted out their plan. It is nice to live in an age where information can be vetted almost instantly, no?

Regardless of whether or not you’re on an unlimited plan with any of these guys, it is nice to see massive corporations eat (some) profits during what is sure to be a bumpy time for their customers. It’s also timely since a fair portion of Canada is either working from home or in self-isolation.

We actually learned a new word today- telecommuting. Basically, it refers to ‘working from home’ but has been given a much fancier name. We like that it implies a mental, not a physical, commute from ‘home’ life to ‘work’ life.

But hey, we’re no linguists!
