Camping to be allowed in National Parks again as early as June 22nd

Things are looking up, outdoorsy folk! Backwoods bosses will be able to pitch their tent in National Parks by the end of the month! According to Parks Canada, people who had made reservations before COVID will be allowed to stay in their pre-purchased site as soon as June 22nd.
Despite several conservation areas opening earlier this June, staying the night in one was still discouraged. Now, it looks like they’ve worked out the kinks and figured out how to reinstate the public safely. Even roofed accommodations, like yurts, will be available in the coming weeks. How exciting!

“As the summer arrives, our national parks and historic sites offer spaces where Canadians can enjoy the outdoors while also respecting the advice of public health experts to keep a safe physical distance from others,” Environment and Climate Change Minister Jonathan Wilkinson said in a press release.
For those who didn’t book months ago, unfortunately, you won’t be able to claim a site. New reservations cannot be made right now, and drop-in camping won’t be allowed, but it shouldn’t be too long until that all changes!
Visitors are encouraged to visit the Parks Canada website for updates, but we’ll be sure to keep you guys in the loop as well! Their website also has more information about guidelines, available services, and what you can expect from each location, so we’d definitely recommend checking it out either way!
To those who were ahead of the curve, man, are we envious. Guess we’ll just have to live vicariously through you! If you don’t mind, of course! Either way, happy Camping, campers!
