Calgary’s cold streak is breaking 20-year-old records

What’s cooler than being cool? Ice cold. What’s not nearly as cool? Feeling personally attacked by the forecast. Unfortunately, that’s a reality for us Calgarians though since record low temperatures are hitting hard and sticking around for the long haul.

Daytime highs have been nearly 23 degrees below average as of late, which means 1) our fingers/toes/spirits are at risk, 2) basic “take me back ?” vacay Instas are at an all-time high, and 3) we’re seriously wondering what we did to deserve this.
If you think we’re being dramatic, think again. The city of Calgary has not made it above -11 since February 2, which means we’ve had almost 10 days of straight garbage temps, ranging from -18 C to –26.2 C. Ughhhhh.

The last time it was this cold, Furbys were a thing and Google had barely been invented. January 1998 was a rough time for everyone and now February 2019 is trying to bring us back to that dark place.
We’d tell you there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, but we aren’t gonna do you like that. Buckle up Calgs, ’cause the forecast for the next week is predicting daytime highs to remain below -11 C with overnight lows below -20 C.
