According to a press release sent out this afternoon, Calgary will be reopening select arenas and pools starting this Thursday.
These indoor leisure centres will see that six sheets of ice and four pools, begin to allow personal training and conditioning activities for those who book ahead of time.
The following Calgary hockey arenas will reopen Thursday, February 11th:
- Max Bell Centre (Ken Bracko and Arena #2) – 1001 Barlow Trail S.E.
- Father David Bauer and Norma Bush arenas – 2424 University Drive N.W.

Now, while this is exciting news, it’s important to go over some of their ground rules! As mentioned, facilities cannot be used for games, league play, or group exercise. Second, practices and conditioning activities for those under 18 years old can be held for a max of 10 kids (including coaches and trainers).
“Calgary Recreation has been in touch with Hockey Calgary as well as many other sports organizations since the announcement this past weekend,” said Jarret Hoebers, Regional Manager with Calgary Recreation in the release.
“We’re excited to get the sports community back into our facilities,’ he added.
