In quarantine, the only thing in higher demand than toilet paper and sanitizer is companionship. To the surprise of almost no one who has ever owned a pet ever, animal shelters are actually having a hard time keeping up with adoption and foster care applications.

Some shelters have actually had to hire help or bring in volunteers, and we’re thrilled to hear this, as long as people are being responsible and realistic about the adoption of an animal.

Before you adopt, several shelters are asking that you consider how well that animal will fit into your everyday, post-quarantine lifestyle! It’s extremely important to remember that eventually, we will all go back to our regularly scheduled day-to-days!

If you’ve already put a ton of thought into it, and are see looking to go through with it we’d recommend checking out The Calgary Humane Society, AARCS, The Meow Foundation, or any of Calgary’s other incredible rescue organizations for a forever friend.

If you’d just like to volunteer to help these guys out with finding homes for these animals, feel free to submit an application to do so on one of their websites. They need all the help they can get!
