Calgary food truck owners launch give-get campaign to feed frontline workers

The  COVID-19 outbreak has been exceptionally rough on the industries that rely on seasonal sales to get through the rest of the year. In an effort to get through such an unforgiving summer, local businesses and their supporters have had to think fast and get creative. Entrepreneurs like Jordon and Rachelle Henkel, owners of Calgary food trucks Crack’d and Ain’t No Thang Chicken Wangs, are two of many locals who have been greatly affected but have continued to bust their butts despite an unfortunate circumstance, even taking time to do good along the way.

Like so many others, the couple has launched a BoostR campaign with ATB, not only to make it to the other side of 2020 but to give back to the community and frontline workers that have really come through in such a terrifying time.

“This year has definitely been a challenging one, with essentially all our plans going out the window due to the pandemic,” they said in an email to Curiocity. “We are doing our best to keep plugging away so we can make it through, but every little bit helps so we appreciate all the support our community has to offer.”

Because they believe so deeply in returning favours and paying it forward, donations will be met with a gift equal to each pledge. So, basically, you’re helping them out for free. For example, if you send $25, you get $25 in a gift card for one of their food trucks… which are both out of this world delish btw. Win, Win.

Also, in cahoots with their friends at Egg Farmers of Alberta, they’ve promised to help 100 AHS workers at both the $2,000 and $4,000 BoostR milestones. “We would really love to hit at least one of those targets,” they said.

If you are able and would like to contribute – and also get some super tasty grub in the process, you can view their official ATB BoostR campaign here.

This honestly might be one of the most delicious ways you can support your community!
