Calgarians took more than 250K e-scooter trips in August

Well, nobody can say that we don’t take advantage of alternative forms of transit anymore since Calgary e-scooter rides have been absolutely insane this year. The current estimate for August? Around 250,000 rides, or close to 10k a day.

The number is split between Bird and Lime, who have around 1500 scooters in Calgary combined. While it’s the former’s first time in the city, Lime had been doing e-bikes throughout the winter. But we have to admit, they just don’t have the same appeal.

Which is probably why we see everyone, and we mean everyone, riding around on scooters. High school students, businessmen, old cowboys during the Stampede… it has been absolutely endless.

What’s more, this is just the pilot of the service. The scooters will be rounded up at the end of October and will return for another season next March. If all goes well, we can expect a year-round service.

We have a feeling that Lime and Bird are both here to stay.
