Bylaw officers have issued 3 tickets since announcing social distancing fine

Ah, so it begins, folks! It was only days ago that the city announced bylaw officers were granted permission to issue tickets to those caught failing to social distance. Unfortunately, three tickets have actually already been written to people who declined to stay at least two metres away from each other.
According to Sue Henry, Calgary’s Emergency Management Agency Deputy Chief, the men who were ticketed in Lindsay Park were, “flagrantly ignoring the social distancing orders.” Oy vey.

It’s not all bad news though! According to other officials who spoke during Calgary’s regular update, despite having 362 patrols sent out on Friday, only 140 warnings were handed out. Also, only 338 of the 1,515 COVID related calls made over the weekend, were due to physical distancing concerns, which is awesome.
We know it’s tough sometimes, guys, but it’s important to remember that Calgary is still under a state of emergency!
According to the Mayor, occasional driveway visits are okay, and only if you feel as though you absolutely need to, but we are to stay indoors as often as possible! Bylaw tickets are super easy to avoid, especially when they’re being issued for not doing something as easy as physical distancing. We can do this, Calgs! You’re doing great! Just a while longer and we can go resume our ol’ city-wide antics!
