Well, we hate to burst anyone’s bubble, but if you thought that the freezing weather in Canada had come and gone, you’d be very wrong. In fact, Mother Nature is just getting things started. According to the Weather Network, in the next few days, the entire country will see temperatures below 0. In fact, they’re calling it the ‘most widespread cold this century.’ Brrrrr.

If you live in one of the colder areas in the country, this might be hard to imagine, but in some cities like Victoria, freezing temperatures are actually pretty rare. In fact, the BC spot has only spent 28 full days out of the last 100 years at the sub zero mark.

“For every provincial capital to remain below the freezing mark, particularly Victoria, everything has to come together to hold the frigid air coast-to-coast,” they said on their website. Wild, hey?

Basically for this to happen everything from a polar vortex to warm temperatures in Florida have to align perfectly – which it has.

The warmer pacific air has been blocked by a ridge in both the south, north and north Pacific causing that darned polar vortex to funnel into and through the country. The freezing wind has nowhere to run, so it’s going to do what it does best and just ‘chill.’

So, bundle up folks – no matter where you might be because no one will be able to escape the cold weather in Canada this weekend.
