On Monday, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, provided an update on the second wave of COVID-19 in the province. And, basically, she says that things are getting out of hand.
The update comes as Alberta sees new records daily infections, with just over 13,000 active cases at time of writing. What’s more, parts of the healthcare system are being overwhelmed, including the capacity for proper contact tracing.

So, Dr. Hinshaw said that ‘stronger measures’ needed to be taken to control the spread of the virus. However, she functions as an advisor for the Albertan government, and so needs to consult with relevant people in order to actually implement change. Alberta would join provinces like BC and Ontario if new measures are put in place.
That meeting is currently scheduled for later today, with updates becoming public tomorrow. Hopefully, Alberta will see a new structure that helps to stop the spread.
In the meantime, keep your distance and stay safe out there, folks!
