91% of Albertans are in favour of ditching daylight savings time

If you hate daylight savings time, and we mean HATE, you’ll be pleased to know that 9 out of 10 Albertans actually agree with you. Including us.

According to Service Alberta Minister Nate Glubish, 91 percent of the 141,000 Albertans surveyed last year said they would prefer to stay on summer hours year-round as opposed to changing their clocks twice a year.

But of course, it’s more complicated than just not doing it anymore. “Changing to daylight time year-round would require looking at what other jurisdictions are doing,” Glubish said in a press release.

Why? Apparently, it’s because we “would be out of sync with our neighbours,” but that’s something they’re working on.

Premier Jason Kenney said he too supports the idea and is reaching out to key organizations, our partners in eastern Canada, and members of the business community in hopes of “moving together in unison.”

“I think it’s becoming more and more obvious that our whole region in North America is shifting in that direction,” Kenney added in the release.

We pretty happy to hear that a permanent daylight time could be in our near future, but we just wish it was in our immediate past. Like, before Sunday, when we lost an hour of beauty sleep. What do we need to do to speed this process up, Kenney?! Help us help you to help us. Please?
