So this summer has been… different. Thanks to that pesky coronavirus, we’ve seen more cancellations then we can count, but we’ve also seen a ton of new, innovative events come to life! Not sure what we mean? Here are 5 events in Calgary to check out before August ends! We promise you won’t be disappointed.

TEDXYYC DRIVE-IN

Level up, Calgary! On August 20th, enjoy and learn from some incredible speakers, talking everything from finance to social issues and innovation. This has been a crazy year, and a lot of us could use a little bit of encouragement to get our feet back firmly on the ground. Check it out!

MOTOR NIGHTS DRIVE-IN – FINAL SUMMER DATES

This is it, Calgary! Your last chance to enjoy vintage classics and new school faves this summer will be this upcoming week! Order some serious snackage from the YYC Food Trucks right from your phone, curl up with a blanket or two in the bed of your old pickup truck and enjoy one (or more) of the most crowd-pleasing films!

CALGARY’S BUMP FESTIVAL

Before the month’s end, you guys have to check out murals that are being created for the (biggest ever) 2020 BUMP festival. This is also your chance to experience some incredibly unique programming including virtual artist talks and live music. This contemporary art festival has beaten the odds and will delight, astonish, and capture the city’s spirit. You don’t want to miss it!

PLAYOFF DRIVE-IN FOR CHARITY

Yep, another drive-in. 2020 is fun, isn’t it? This playoff series, scream and cheer with someone other than your dog! Grab a bag of popcorn and a few drinks, and “root-root” for the home team from behind the wheel, or a fold-out chair when they take on the Dallas Stars for games 6 and 7.

PAWPLAY PET PARADE

An adorable pet costume Parade will hit Eau Claire this August

Squeel and eek with fellow animal lovers for an-all-species event like none other. On August 22nd, gather in Eau Claire Park for a distance-friendly pageant of furry perfection and pop culture. Any and all well-behaved animal and their human are encouraged to participate, and costumes can super simple or crazy elaborate depending on your pet’s comfort level, as long as it’s put on out of kindness. Consider this the cutest even of the month, by a landslide.
