Buy one, give back! McDonald’s Canada launches ‘fries for good’ amid COVID

McDonald’s has just launched what may be one of the tastiest COVID-19 initiatives to date, Fries For Good. This month, the fast-food company will donate a portion of the proceeds made from all fry sales to the Canadian Red Cross in support of relief efforts and the recent tragedy that occurred in Nova Scotia.
Between May 8th and the 21st, the money raised through FFG will go to the Red Cross to be distributed to families in need through the Canadian Emergencies and COVID-19 Response Fund, disaster response and preparedness work across Canada and to the Nova Scotia Stronger Together Fund.

This will be done in addition to the 250,000 pounds of food already donated to local food banks.
“With several recent tragedies adding to the hardships already created by the current global pandemic, we wanted to find a way to rally Canadians and support our communities that need it the most right now…” said John Betts, President, and CEO, McDonald’s Canada in a press release. “The Fries For Good initiative provides a simple and easy way for all Canadians to contribute to relief efforts coast-to-coast.”
In addition to helping those in need, the project also aims to help Canadian farmers, who actually supply the potatoes!
