Marda Loop’s newest resto might be some of the best Italian in town

Via Curiocity Group

There are a few things that drew us into Pubblico Italian Kitchen. It’s new, it’s in a gorgeous building in Marda Loop, the interior is stunning. Above all else though, it was the burrata. What can we say? We’re suckers for cheese.

This new authentic Italian venture comes to breathe some life into Marda Loop’s restaurant scene. Sure, there are lots of good places to grab a meal or a beer, but where are you going for a handcrafted cocktail? Which bar are you sitting at for an après dinner glass of wine? Let us tell ya, it should be this one.

The man behind the operation is Daryl. He’s hard to miss- look for the tall silver fox. Daryl loves restaurants (fitting for someone who, well, opened a restaurant), and he also really loves wine. Hey, we have that in common, dude.

In fact, Daryl knows so much about wine that he’s stocked the shelves here with bottles you just won’t find anywhere else. If you’re looking to broaden your horizons in 9 oz fashion, go ahead and ask for a recommendation.

Speaking of recommendations, we’re going to take a sec to do the thing where we tell you what to eat. While the menu here is still finding out what deserves a permanent spot, a few things need to be on your plate.

First of all, make sure you take full advantage of the burrata bar. Duh. Not only is the burrata itself perfect and creamy, but the toppings range from pancetta to egg yolk to luscious honeycomb. Our heart rate is getting a little speedy over here.

As you get into the menu, don’t be intimidated by the intense Italian-ness of everything. We’re going to join hands and step out of our boxes together, okay? Nobody is laughing if you fudge a pronunciation- believe us, we butchered “Cappelletti alla Vecchia Bettola.”

Start off with Fior di Zucca, which are cheese-stuffed fried zucchini flowers with pistachio pesto and bomba honey. They’re more beautiful than we are, sadly.

For entrees, you’re not going to go wrong anywhere you turn! Hand-torn pastas and creamy gnocchi compete against braised boar shoulder and Roman-style oxtail for your attention. Once upon a time, there was a seafood pasta feature that might have changed our lives a little. We’re hoping it comes back.

Finish with a chocolate olive oil cake so rich and decadent, it feels kinda wrong to eat in public. So wrong, but so right.

If you’re lucky, Daryl’s little daughter might even run your food. She told us we’re pretty, which might have been a secret flattery tactic to turn us into regulars. Whatever, it worked.
