We’ll just call this the second period! In June of this year, 17th avenue’s sportiest of sports bars closed its doors to the public. But lo and behold, it looks like Home & Away is planning on reopening in style this fall.

The bar had occupied one of the largest spaces on the red mile but was hammered by ongoing construction and rising rent. It was still heavily populated with loads of Flames fans on game nights, but that wasn’t enough to keep the doors open.

Over time, there was speculation that Home & Away would meet the same fate as so many bars that had taken ownership of the space before it. After all, location is key.

Unfortunately for bar-goers, after four consecutive hockey seasons, Home & Away decided to take a time out. But in Swarzenager fashion, they vowed that they would be back.

They’ve continued to stay active on social media, hyping us up for an epic come up over the last few months, and it looks like they’re just about ready to hit the ice again. Maybe just in time for fantasy league.

An official address has yet to be released and they haven’t said just yet when the Home & Away grand reopening party will be held.

That being said, we did spot some familiar stickers in windows along 1st Street S.W. Maybe Home & Away has its new home after all.

But we can’t imagine them being out of the game for much longer.
