Hey Calgary, are you hungry? We are asking because in the past month or so amongst all the construction along 17th Avenue a new corner restaurant was quietly getting ready to open. Didn’t notice? Well, no worries, we’ve got you covered. The mystery spot is none other than Comery Block.

It’s a sister restaurant to the super-popular Hayden Block in Kensington. That’s right, Calgary, we’ve got another BBQ spot just in time for Stampede! Let’s take a quick glance at the brand new Comery Block and what it has to offer. Don’t forget your bib.

In case you’ve been living under a flavourless rock, Hayden Block has been reinvigorating Calgary’s BBQ scene for the last couple of years. Hey, we love the Palomino, Booker’s, and have been thoroughly impressed by Paddy’s among other solid BBQ joints. That being said, Hayden Block took over a massive spot in Kensington and made the neighbourhood pop again.

Now the time has come for Hayden Block to make it’s 17th Avenue presence felt with Comery Block. This new offering will feature West Tennessee Barbecue and Bourbon as opposed to the former’s Texas-style menu.

Obviously, that means a different flavour profile, sauces, and selection. By the way, different is very, very good in this context. Actually, it looks like a few people are already raving about Comery Block and all it has to offer. Nicely done, everyone!
