We definitely didn’t see this one coming, guys! Only months after their grand opening, Hart Healthy Foods in Calgary’s East Village has shut down indefinitely. That just breaks our hart. Come on, you had to see that one coming.
The restaurant was was owned and operated by Alex Hart, daughter of wrestling legend Brett “The Hitmen” Hart. It officially opened early last fall and, from the outside at least, looked as if it was doing alright.

This is your last weekend to check out these Christmas light displays!

The fast-food meets good food inner-city spot offered quick and convenient farm-to-table freshness, sourced right from local suppliers. Their menu included family-friendly inspired meals like waffles, grilled cheese, and salads all made from organic ingredients. If we’re being honest, it all tasted pretty incredible, but it was pricey.
Unfortunately, why it shut down remains a bit of a mystery. It could be anything from location, to internal issues, to lack of publicity. Rumblings report that the staff haven’t been paid as they should during the closing, which is no bueno.
The Hart family has yet to comment, but we’ll keep you updated! Until then, we’ll think of their sweet, sweet Belgian waffles topped with chantilly cream, fresh fruit and charcoal icing sugar fondly.
