Happy Hour of the Week: Endless summer vibes & shareable Mai Tais
We’re happy to say that Ricardo’s is the best place in Calgary to keep summer rolling all year long, and especially during their happy hour. We’re big into the endless summer vibes here at Curiocity, so much so that we’re going to rock Tommy Bahama in January.
Happy Hour of the Week: Ricardo’s Hideaway
Happy hour at Ricardo’s is a simple one- both daiquiris and pina coladas are $8. That’s right, the iconic tiki drinks are as cheap as the average pint of beer, and are so much better at masking the changing seasons it’s not even funny.
Of course, with prices like that you might as well tuck into the food too. Partly for the taste and partly because it’s good to drink on a full stomach, to avoid the inevitable hangover the next day.
And while food isn’t included in happy hour, the prices here are low enough that it doesn’t matter. Bar snacks like plantain chips, corn nuts and cashews top out at a mere $6. Plus, Jamaican beef patties and empanadas are the same price.
Of course, you’re more than welcome to try out some larger dishes, too. We definitely recommend the Maui ribs and the Jerk Chicken- two iconic options that are as good here as anywhere else in the city.

Oh, and did we mention that they’ve got the World’s Biggest Mai Tai? Yep– it’s true. This bad boy, aka Jungle Juice, aka Goodnight, Sweet Prince, is for groups of 4 or more. It’s loaded with 12 ounces (oh hell yeah) of liquor. More specifically, the drink is made of Mount Gay Eclipse Rum, Cointreau, Orgeat, pineapple juice, OJ, lime juice, and angostura bitters.
It sure sounds like it tastes like a GD dream and you know what? We’re here for it. So unbutton the top button on your own Tommy Bahama shirt (found at Value Village) and swing on by, you earned a sip or two.
