Group behind Ajito opens unique new Japanese resto, Ponshu

This has been an exciting week for YYC’s resto-verse, hasn’t it? Today we have another launch for you guys, this time from the folks behind Ajito! Ponshu Calgary, an innovative Japanese Izakaya, opened super quietly this week right under our noses and trust us you’re going to want to check it out.
Ponshu was created by three well-travelled, well-versed chefs who have taken authentic style recipes and tweaked them in order to “cater to the Canadian palate.”

Much like Japanese Wine (or Sake) – which is what Ponshu actually means in Japanese, their food will practically knock you on your butts. Their menu is wild, featuring tasty bites like Teriyaki Chicken Tofu and Sapporo Beer Battered Onion Rings. Meaning, here, a food-coma is almost inevitable – hence the butt knocking.

To be honest, their food really photographs better than most influencers which leads us to believe that this will be ‘an experience.’
Needless to say, we’re pretty excited to pull up a chair for ourselves – hopefully in the very, very near future.
