Fresh pasta and sunshine on Calgary’s best hidden patio
Man, we could really use an escape to the Italian countryside right now. Unfortunately, we don’t have the cash… but what we lack in $$ we make up for in pasta enthusiasm! Calgary, it’s time to eat authentic Italian on the Tuscan Terrace. At Bonterra Trattoria, everything tastes so authentic that you won’t even realize you’re still in the city.
If you think we’re exaggerating, then we’re very sorry but you’re very wrong. This restaurant feels, looks, and tastes like something straight out of the boot-shaped homeland.
Obviously, we’re pretty in love with the patio. That being said, the food has a hold on our heart as well.
Looking to dive right into the carbs and attack a plate of pasta? Yeah, us too. We’d recommend the Cavatappi con Pesto because you might as well go big. What’s the point in visiting a traditional-style Italian resto if you’re not going to treat yourself, after all.

The braised pork cheeks are served with sweet pea purée, carrots, pine nut gremolata, and polenta. It’s a mouthful to say and a mouthful to eat (not that we’re complaining). Pair that with any of the delicious wines and boom! You’ve got yourself a heck of a meal.
