Oh boy, oh boy! Calgary has a brand new speakeasy and we couldn’t be more excited about it. After all, who doesn’t love hidden gems? This one is called Paper Lantern, and it just opened up shop in Calgary’s Chinatown. Let’s take a look.

Tucked away in a Chinatown basement lies a tropical and Vietnamese escape. That’s what Paper Lantern states on their website, and we couldn’t agree more.

Serving up Vietnamese tapas, subs, bowls, and a super unique tropically-inclined drink menu, this new cocktail spot is like a vacation right here in town.

Obviously, the ongoing pandemic has put a stranglehold on plenty of local businesses, so seeing a fresh spot pop up has us absolutely delighted.

If you’re thinking about hitting up Paper Lantern soon (and you should be), then know that its open 5 pm-late from Thursday to Saturday.
