Alberta’s government releases restaurant guidelines for relaunch

Like ourselves, we’re sure you guys have a lot of questions about what dining out will look like during phase one of Alberta’s relaunch. What precautions will they be taking and what can we expect when businesses reopen on May 14th? Will it actually be safe?!
Well, fellow isolators, we’re in luck! The Alberta Government just released a list of guidelines for restaurants to operate safely. Now those who feel the need to risk the biscuit can do so with peace of mind, and those on the fence can make an informed decision!

“This document should be used to support operators in reducing the risk of transmission of COVID-19 among guests and workers in restaurants, cafes, pubs, and bars,” the document states.
As the government has already stated, all establishments may only operate at 50% or less capacity, and everyone must remain at least 2 metres apart. The max per party will be six people, and they have also recommended that all booths and tables be separated by a divider. Fair!
All table condiments and pre-set silverware must be removed, and restaurants should either sanitize thoroughly or find an alternative menu style to prevent items from being passed around at all.
Workers must wear surgical masks and are required to wash hands frequently. Also, like at the grocery store or essential retail spaces, there must be signage and floor markings. This is all pretty standard, stuff guys!

Stay informed and stay safe, Calgary!
