This weekend’s Geminid meteor shower might be the brightest of 2020

This year, there has been no shortage of exciting space-type events. When the world ran out of new things to watch on Netflix, the universe delivered. From solar flares to fireballs, planet sightings, and even aliens we’ve really seen it all – or so we thought! This weekend keep your eyes on the skies because the Geminid meteor shower is expected to light the night in a big, bright, way.

Now we know we saw plenty of other showers in 2020, but we can assure you – they were nothing like this.

Geminid is notoriously reliable and impressive, littering the solar system with over 150 meteors per hour during its peak – which will take place on Sunday, December 13th around 3:00 AM MST.

Conditions are expected to be perfect this time around – thanks to December 14th’s new moon. Because Geminid won’t have to share the stage with our neighbouring rock, all-stars and the meteors passing by will have a night-black backdrop to fall in front of.

We’d recommend taking a drive as far from city lights as possible, crossing your fingers it’s a cloudless night, and setting an alarm for 3 am MST because you will not want to miss this one! Enjoy, friends!
