Enjoy this Robbie Burns Bash for a great cause!

The Robbie Burns bash is an amazing not-for-profit event hosted January 25th at the St. Louis Hotel. With 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales being donated to The Alex, this event is a great way to get involved and support the amazing work that The Alex is doing for our community. The Alex changes how we look at health care in Calgary by supporting our most vulnerable neighbours. They tackle tough health and social issues head-on by managing the physical, mental, emotional and economic well-being for all individuals.

The participating restaurants (Teatro, King Eddy, Lukes at the Central Library location & Rouge) will be providing a selection of Scottish inspired canapes. At $60 per ticket, all tickets purchased will include food and drink. Now, this is our kind of event! Big Rock will be providing beer, Cork Fine Wines will be providing all wines and spirits, AND a whiskey tasting. While you’re sipping your wine and whiskey, and tasting some of Calgary’s finest Scottish foods, there will be traditional entertainment provided as well! Highland Dancers from the Springbank School of Highland Dance will be performing, bagpiper performances, and you can listen in on readings from a traditional Robbie Burns Poet. Go ahead, take a pause from reading this article to go purchase your ticket. We know you’re sold.
As much fun as this event is, at the end of the day it’s really all about supporting a great cause and organization. From babies to seniors, The Alex breaks down access and social barriers by tailoring their services to meet individual needs. Through crisis prevention, their team of professionals works hard to step in before long-term intervention is needed. Since 1973, The Alex has been giving preventative care in a welcoming, easy-to-access environment. Their cost-effective programs have saved millions of dollars in taxpayer money by moving people from poverty to stability and from crisis to wellness.

Two of the very important services that The Alex has to offer are the Youth and Family Health Centres. The Youth Health Centre is a safe and supportive place for youth ages 12-24 to come and get health and social care from a trustworthy and caring team of doctors, nurses, and support workers. There is a number of support services provided at the Youth Health Centre, so here are just a few: medical care, mental health supports, STI and pregnancy testing, pharmacy services, basic needs support, LGBTQ2S+ support, parenting programs, and ID document support.
The Family Health Centre (sometimes called the Community Health Centre), is a full-service health clinic with doctors and nurses who are there to listen to you! The Health Centre is here for low-income Calgarians who do not have a regular family doctor. Some of the many services provided there are medical care, social supports, pharmacy services, chiropractor and massage therapy, chronic disease nurses, and optometry.
The Alex is doing incredible work for our community and we are so excited to share this event with you! There is no specific dress code for this event, so you can come straight from work, or straight from bed. Whatever you do, just be sure to come by and support The Alex by celebrating the wild Scottish event that is Robbie Burns Day!
