Imagine sitting on a stranded plane for 8 hours, you were supposed to be home already, and your complimentary pretzels are long gone. A pilot ordered pizza to the tarmac to feed his 150 passengers in this exact situation. The real MVP, everyone!
The Air Canada flight was meant to hop, skip, and jump from Toronto to Halifax. However, it was stranded in Fredericton after the runways in Halifax were closed due to another plane sliding during taxi.

So, what should have been a quick trip turned into an 8-hour debacle. Further, the plane had no meals on it since it was supposed to be a quick trip.
We know, your anxiety is skyrocketing just thinking about being stuck on that plane, regretting skipping the Timmie’s line in the airport. However, passengers say the captain went above and beyond to make it as pleasant as an 8 hour diverted flight could be.

Apparently, the captain personally walked up and down the aisle to ensure passengers knew what the dealio was. Then, perhaps prompted by the audible grumble of 150 stomachs, he decided dinner was on him.

The captain called up Mingler Restaurant and Pub in Oromocto, NB. As you may have guessed, the pub wasn’t exactly experienced in mass orders for the tarmac. However, they speedily put together 23 pep and cheese pizzas for the passengers.
Pizzas were delivered, and in true pizza form, made everything better. Additionally, passengers made it to Halifax the next day (bellies full).
The pub owner’s thoughts on the matter? “I hope everybody enjoyed their pizzas.” We’re pretty dang sure they did.
