Got weekend plans? No? Well, now you do, because Monster Jam is in Calgary this weekend, and is sure to be a highlight of your summer. We got a chance to take a peek behind the scenes and chat with a couple of the drivers.

First up is Calgary’s local legend, Cam McQueen. Not only is Cam’s truck ‘Northern Nightmare’ the only Canadian team on the tour, but he’s also the first person to perform a backflip in competition on the Monster Jam circuit. So fingers crossed that the track, the truck, and Cam himself might be able to bring that to the Grandstand this weekend.
As he puts it “when the greatest motorsport show on earth meets the greatest outdoor show on earth, it’s an honour and a real sense of pride. Calgary goes big with everything, and Monster Jam is no exception”.

Meanwhile, Tyler Menninga will be driving the iconic Grave Digger this weekend. At only 22, Tyler is one of the youngest drivers on the circuit, having started when he was 18.
For him, it’s all about representing the 37 year legacy that Dennis Anderson started. And as part of that, he likes to “go by the seat of your pants and get crazy”. While proper Monster Jam might have gotten a little more technical, Menninga is making sure that the old school driving style will be around for a while.
Monster Jam is in Calgary for two days only, Saturday and Sunday. Trust us, this is not something you want to miss.
