So the province announced that it will begin reopening the province mid-May! While this is an exciting time because it finally feels like there’s an end in sight, it’s important to remember that until there’s some kind of vaccine or sure-fire treatment, coronavirus will still be a threat. Unfortunately, big city events are still dangerous, which is why the group behind some of Calgary’s favourite annual events, announced that they will be cancelling 2020’s festivities.

This year’s Inglewood Sunfest, Fiestaval, Mexifest, and The Taste of Calgary have will return in 2021, but due to restrictions made by the city, we’ll have to go without them this summer.

“We know this is tough news for our festival community to digest. We want you to know that this decision was not made easily and we are on your side,” they said in a press release.

Although it’ll be tough for festival-goers, and even harder for the vendors and performers that look forward to these events, there’s no doubt in our minds that next summer will be twice as exciting.

Despite the mass event cancellations this year, in 2o21 we will be back, stronger, and thriving!

As always, our hearts go out to everyone who has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re with you, Calgary!
