Celebrate Pride Week with National 17th’s Proudest Party On The Block

Calgary Pride Week is officially here and we can’t wait to celebrate! Shout out to National 17 for their Proudest Party on the Block! Here’s everything you need to know about joining in on the fun with rainbows, glittery beer, drag queens, dancing and special events happening during the Proudest Party on the Block at National 17 all weekend long!

Kicking off the weekend, Friday, August 30th starts with Happy Hour with DJ DomTop from 3pm to 6pm at National 17’s patio. Vancouver resident DJ DomTop is taking over the decks, while you sip on your fave Pride Week cocktails and shareable snacks. And don’t forget to dive into National 17 and Village Brewery’s ‘Yass Kween Pink Lemonade Sour’! Created just for Pride Week, this collab beer is not only swirling with glitter, but proceeds from it go directly towards Calgary Pride.

Not into beer? Shake, Stir & Strainbow’s got you covered. National 17 didn’t stop at just beer, they came out with their very own Purple Drink! This boozy Slurpee and Pride-inspired cocktail is mixed with vodka, Licor 43, grape crush and lemon, and finished with a rainbow sprinkle rim. One dollar from each cocktail is donated to the Skipping Stone Foundation, aimed at supporting trans and gender-diverse youth and families.

After Friday night’s festivities, the party is definitely not slowing down; in fact, brunch is poppin’ off. National 17’s WERK Drag Brunch Celebrity Pride Edition is going down from 11am to 3pm. All ages are welcome at this safe and inclusive Drag Brunch featuring some of the top names in Canadian Drag. With music courtesy of DJ SONIDEF and drag performances running until 3pm, this is a ticketed event so get yours as soon as possible. Arrive early, stay late and enjoy National 17’s Happy Hour from 3pm to 6pm. This Happy Hour comes equipped with Pride Week cocktails and funky beats from DJ Reid Bourgeois!

Round out your Pride Weekend with the big finale, the Calgary Pride Parade. From 11am to 1pm on Sunday, September 1st keep your eyes peeled for Concorde Group’s float! Enjoy the festivities with balloons, confetti cannons, swag bags, and the famous rainbow smoke bombs! Head back to National 17th for Sunday’s Happy Hour with local DJ Joanna Magik from 3pm to 6pm and make the most of your long weekend before we say sayonara to summer!
