What’s new to Netflix Canada this March

Via New Republic

If you are anything like us, you have been spending most of the winter binge-watching Netflix, ordering take-out, and avoiding any sort of unnecessary human interaction. Although Spring is just around the corner, and we’re all planning on coming out of this deep hibernation, Netflix Canada is keeping our attention with an extensive list of movies and shows that will be hitting in March. That’s right, now you don’t have any excuse to be re-watching The Office for the fourth time.

Here are some of the highlights of what you can expect to see on Netflix Canada this March!

Netflix Originals

A couple of the Netflix originals that are going to be at the top of our list are The Dirt, coming March 22nd, and The Highwaymen, coming March 29th. The Dirt will be a dramatization of Mötley Crüe’s career, something we can definitely dedicate a few nights toward. The Highwaymen, featuring Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson is about two former Texas Rangers who brought down Bonnie and Clyde.

Classics Flicks

Some incredible classics will also be hitting your screens in March such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall (arguably one of the funnier movies ever made), The Boy In The Striped Pajamas (arguably one of the saddest movies ever made), and Happy Gilmore (the Citizen Kane of Adam Sandler’s filmography).

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a movie that never gets old for us. Struggling musician Peter Bretter (played by Jason Segel) is better known as the boyfriend of TV star Sarah Marshall (played by Kristen Bell). After she dumps him, he feels lost and alone but makes a last-ditch bid to get over it by going to Hawaii. However, he is shocked when he finds her and her new boyfriend (played by Russell Brand) are there in the same hotel.

Television Favourites

A few of the shows we can’t get wait to get our eyes on that will be returning in March for new seasons are Arrested Development (season 5), Santa Clarita Diet (season 3) and RuPaul’s Drag Race (season 10). Can we just take a moment to talk about how easily any episode of the above series can instantly put a smile on your face? RuPaul welcomes contestants back to compete for the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar” in season 10.

Arrested Development, a show about Michael Bluth who finds himself forced to stay in Orange County and run the family real estate business after his father is sent to prison for committing white-collar crime, absolutely kills the comedy game. If you haven’t seen these, you’re going to want to catch up before the new seasons hit!

Netflix’s own Santa Clarita Diet is about two married realtors, Sheila (played by Drew Barrymore), and Joel (played by Timothy Olyphant) who are living a quiet life, raising their teenage daughter in a suburb of Santa Clarita, California. Their world unexpectedly changes when Sheila goes through a dramatic transformation that sends her down a road of death and destruction — but leaves her looking and feeling better than ever. Think of it as a Zombie Killers meets I love Lucy, it’s quite the combination.

Hollywood Blockbusters

As for Hollywood movies, Netflix Canada is streaming movies like La La Land, A Monster Calls, The Girl on the Train, Space Jam, The Dark Knight Rises, Disney’s Christopher Robin, Life, and Snowpiercer.

Our personal favourite from that list has to be La La Land. The film that should have won Best Picture at the Oscar’s (don’t @ us, Moonlight fans), has Sebastian (played by Ryan Gosling) and Mia (played by Emma Stone)  drawn together by their common desire to do what they love. But as success mounts, they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart.

Don’t listen to what your parents may have said folks, plenty of hours of television does NOT rot your brain, especially when it’s Netflix. Click here for the complete list of everything hitting Netflix Canada this March!
