2020’s new movie drought has been a total bummer. In the last six months, we’ve only seen a handful of films released which is why we’re more excited about the Calgary International Film Festival than ever. For those like us who have been itching to see something that hasn’t already been streamed 1,000 times, we’re happy to announce that today we are one step closer to popping some corn and settling in for a few films Netflix hasn’t even gotten their hands on yet.
Only weeks ago, we got a bit of a taster for what was to come when CIFF shared their ‘Alberta Spotlight Section,’ a selection of local films written and produced close to home.
While that was an exciting day, being able to see the full list has been major. From Horror to Drama, France to Denmark, CIFF 2020 kind of has a film from everywhere, about everything directed by everyone… including Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, Ghostbusters, IT). Let’s take a look at some of the highlights, shall we?
