This winter garden in Calgary is full of ice sculptures & giant flowers

Via @Lougheedhouse Instagram

Hey Calgary what are you doing this weekend? If your answer is “nothing” or “not sure,” then have we got something for you! In fact, even if you are doing something, say, like checking out Chinook Blast, consider adding another stop on your inner-city tour of lights. Until the 28th, wanderers can check out the Lougheed House Snowbird Festival, a celebration of art and ice!

In order to really bring their snow-covered winter garden to life, the caretakers of this historical landmark have partnered with several local artists to create several beautiful, unique and colourful larger-than-life pieces.

Brighten up your Instagram with a photo under the flower arch or sip cocoa from the YYC Hot Chocolate Fest on an ice bench! The Lougheed’s first annual event is sure to mesmerize, excite and inspire you… maybe enough to go home and try to make a sculpture of your own!

Now, it is worth noting that if you do decide to drop by, please be aware that even though it is outside, some guidelines like staying 6 feet apart and wearing a mask are encouraged in order to keep everyone safe!

This is just precautionary, but it’s important if we want to get back to our regular business! Anywho… it really is worth the trip, guys! Why not hit it up and enjoy! Happy strolling, Calgary!
