Rapper, actor, songwriter, producer and notorious tough guy, Ice T called out a few Canadian cities over Twitter this weekend. Now usually, anyone mentioning us by name on Twitter would be terrifying (the internet is not always kind.) But to our delight, he was only giving Calgary and Vancouver a little kudos.
The icon took to the social media platform to share various Black Lives Matter protests around the world, and man, people showed up.

Rallies against systemic inequality and racism were held shortly after the world saw a heartbreaking, but sadly familiar, video of 46-year old George Floyd went viral. This particular incident, due to its undeniable content, inspired people to march in solidarity of the movement.

Despite participation from cities all over Western Canada, Calgary and Vancouver were the only two Ice T mentioned on his Twitter among international hotspots Brussels, Paris and New Zeland in addition to others.
We were by no means the largest or the loudest, but we appreciate someone as large as Ice T acknowledging us. Let’s get this straight though. We don’t appreciate this for the clout, or pride.
We appreciate it because this is proof that it’s working. No matter where you are in the world, you have a voice. If unified and loud enough that voice can be heard globally.
Great job, everyone. Let’s continue to be this passionate long after it’s no longer trending, alright? This is important, unconstitutional, necessary, and also Ice T is watching.
