Ghostbusters 3 is set to film in Calgary this year

Whether you’re constantly humming the theme song or have recurring nightmares about the haunted Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, Ghostbusters is a classic that has affected pretty much everybody… so you could say that we’re pretty damn stoked to hear that the new movie’s being shot in Calgary.

Damian Petti, president of film workers’ union IATSE 212, confirmed that Sony intends to shoot the project in here in our city this year. And no, don’t worry– this one won’t have anything to do with the God awful all-female remake. (We said it, okay? It was bad.)

No, this movie will be a continuation of the 1984 original and the 1989 sequel Ghostbusters II. Jason Reitman will direct and co-write the film, following in the footsteps of his dear old dad.

It’s not clear whether the OG Ghostbusters (Murray, Aykroyd or Hudson) will be in the 2020 project, but since 2019 marks the 35th anniversary of the first Ghostbusters, it would be one heck of an amazing throwback.
