Calgary Folk Fest to hold series of virtual concerts this week

Via Calgary Folk Festival

We’ve had a rough go, YYC, but it’s getting better day by day. This week, despite the heartbreaking cancellation of the in-person event a few months ago, the 2020 Calgary Folk Fest, in cahoots with ATB Financial, Enmax, and Big Rock Brewery, will take the web!

“We care deeply about our community and everyone’s health, safety, and well being. We support all public health efforts to return to normal and to be able to safely gather again,” organizers said back in April.

The first-ever virtual folk fest lineup will feature 18 artists from around the globe who will perform right from their homes or studios all in an effort to keep live music alive during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This Thursday, folk-music lovers are encouraged to pitch a tarp, grab a beer and kick all the way back just like attendees have for the last 43 years. It’s a tradition after all!

The best part about this entire shindig? Well, its a ‘pay what you can’ event. “We acknowledge that the pandemic has had a profound impact on many. In the spirit of keeping the festival accessible, we are operating on a pay-what-you-can model,” they say on their website.

The entire thing screams summer chill, Calgary. Trust, us you won’t want to miss it!
