If we’re being honest, February is kind of a weak month. Usually, all we’ve got to look forward to is Valentines Day (yikes)… but thankfully, that’s not the case this year. The Calgary Folk Music Festival is coming through with their 4th Annual Block Heater, which means we have a heck of a lot of tunes to get stoked about.
It’s all going down at Festival Hall, Studio Bell, the King Eddy, and the new Central Library. 28 local, Canadian and international artists will perform concerts and collaborative sessions on 6 stages, which means our ears are about to be positively blessed.

If you’re into the master fiddle work from Ashley MacIsaac, the unreal folk hits from Basia Bulat, or the jazzy mixes from DJ Logic, you’ll be a fan of Block Heater.
The Handsome Family, Matt Mays, Pokey LaFarge, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, and The Wet Secrets will also be in town, so you should definitely be marking this fest on your calendars.
