Big Brother Canada donates $100,000 prize money to COVID response

It was an emotional end to an emotional season of Big Brother Canada 8. As we reported days ago, show execs announced that the show would wrap early without a season 8 winner, due to the COIVID-19 outbreak.
Yesterday, the show bid the contestants farewell and also revealed that this season’s grand prize of $100,000 will actually be donated to several charities responding to the pandemic through canadahelps.org.

“Jointly, Global and Insight Productions conclude their superhero-themed season with an extended thanks to the real heroes of today; the frontline healthcare workers and first responders dedicating themselves to providing healthcare and emergency support during these challenging times.” read a press release regarding the decision.
Unfortunately, for anyone who had a bet on this season or was attached to the cast, the release also confirmed that they were not planning on resuming this season at a later date. Not right now, anyway… but, if we know anything about BB it’s that you should always expected the unexpected!
