It’s that awkward time of the year where we’re all a little seasonally confused. The leaves are changing color and the morning air is crisp – but our afternoons are filled with glorious heat. Do we wear a cute chunky sweater and suffer in the afternoon heat?
All we know is that we’re not ready to say goodbye to the summer yet, so we’ve teamed up with our good friends at the Calgary Stampeders to bring you 6 outdoor activities that make the most of the outdoors and are perfect for the transitional season.
Calgary Farmyard

Now is the perfect time to check out their new sunflower field and snag those cute Instagram photos. But keep your eyes open for their fall activities starting September 20! Pose in their pumpkin patch and test your sense of direction in their 11-acre corn maze on Friday and Saturday evenings with only a flashlight.
Where: 284022 Township Rd 224, Rocky View No. 44
Hiking in the Rockies

The transitional weather is perfect for hiking in the Rockies. We think the colder weather makes for a more comfortable day. Start your morning early while it’s still a little chilly and enjoy the warmer weather on your descend. If you’re hiking during mid to late September it will also be peak larch season. Don’t miss the beautiful forests of gold that will have you oohing and aahing the whole hike.
Calgary Stampeders Game

Whether you’re a football fan or not, attending a Stampeders football game is something you have to experience. Eat, drink, and cheer on our team with your friends and family! There are still some exciting games coming up during the second half of the CFL season including the Stamps vs Riders game at McMahon on Oct. 11!
Where: McMahon Stadium
When: Check the game schedule here
Calgary Night Markets

Night markets are a fun way to enjoy the summer/fall evenings while supporting local vendors. Many of them have live music and outdoor seating. Two markets that happen in September are the Inglewood Night Market, and Vivo Night Market North.
Where: Inglewood Night Market
When: Sept 13 – 14, 2019 @5-11pm
Where: Vivo Night Market North
When: Sept 7 4-9pm
Walk or Run for a Cause

Calgary has at least one race going on every weekend until the end of October. There’s a good reason why this is the most popular time for these races! The cooler temperatures make it safer for these extended races. Some popular ones are the Terry Fox Run, the Run for Childhood Cancer, and CIBC Run for the Cure.
Calgary Ghost Tours

These walking tours are a “fun” way to explore the City. The transitional weather makes these walking tours spooky as the leaves change and die. Walk your way through Calgary’s spookiest neighbourhoods and learn the terrifying tales of the past.
We hope these activities help you enjoy what’s left of summer and the start of fall! Embrace the change, friends!
