Good news, Calgary! We’ve got another new park to explore this summer, and it’s going to be a beauty. Introducing Dale Hodges Park, expected to be ready right when the sunny season really gets started.

Sitting adjacent to Bowmont Park on the north side of the Bow River, this perfectly located spot will definitely become a new favourite of Calgary’s. Here’s what we know about Dale Hodges Park:

Dale Hodges Park Bow River

It used to be a gravel pit

Cue up a million Parks and Rec references. Sure enough, Dale Hodges Park is inhabiting what used to be the Klippert gravel pit that stood dormant and as gravelly as a pit can get for years. Talk about an aesthetic improvement! And for any former pit dwellers, we hope you enjoy your new green home. We know we will!

It’s named after a former Alderman

Dale Hodges retired as “Calgary’s longest-serving member of council”, working as the Ward 1 Alderman for thirty years. Not bad at all, Mr. Hodges! You deserve this park.

What it will include

Well, apart from the gorgeous riverside location, you can expect the following: a wildlife habitat and plenty of walking and cycling trails (Razor scooters permitted, Hell yeah). There will also be stormwater wetlands for all of the lil’ nature wet bois to enjoy, and, of course, fantastic city views.

There’s no exact opening or completion date, but as we said, expect this new Bow River spot to be bumpin’ come summertime!
