Apart from how we feel about stepping on a piece LEGO, we honestly believe that those colourful little blocks we’re among the best parts of our childhood. Now, even as an adult seeing to-scale scenes built out of colourful plastic cubes brings us more joy than we should be admitting publically; this is why we are stoked to announce that New Horizon Mall will be holding Calgary’s first-ever virtual LEGO convention this August.

Due to COVID, the 2020 Calgary LEGO convention will be one you’ll have to watch from your living room, but it’ll still be worth checking out! Honestly, folks, whether you’re a pro or just an enthusiast like ourselves, Buildcon will fill you full of pure nostalgia and absolute joy.

Hosted by Kris Manabo and Colin Ross of YouTube’s Creator Industries Inc., Buildcon will feature skilled LEGO artists who will engage with the audience and answer questions via the Twitch streaming platform. Learn about their architectural process and find out what exactly it takes to be considered a LEGO pro. Talk about a dream job!

In addition to the event, all structures built during the convention will be featured in 12 stores throughout the marketplace so Calgarians can “ooh,” “ahh” and take photos! If you can’t make it during Buildcon but are interested in checking it out, the gallery will actually be up and viewable for the entire month of September! Thank goodness.

Just … maybe watch your step and try not to touch anything? You don’t want to be the person that knocks over the Statue of LEGO Liberty. Trust us.
