Give yourself a pat on the backs, YYC! This weekend was the first since establishing the mandatory mask bylaw, and according to the City of Calgary, no tickets were handed out as a result!

The temporary ruling which took effect on Saturday, August 1st states that a face covering has to be worn in all public indoor spaces. This includes all malls, grocery stores, on transit, or in taxis and Ubers.

If you really think about it, it’s crazy impressive that a city the size of Calgary had no recorded mandatory mask bylaw violations at all over a long weekend! None, zip, zilch!

Businesses we’re not quite as successful, but still deserve some kudos! Only 7 reports were made regarding stores and retail spaces who had not put up the mandatory bylaw signage in entryways. Only 7! Great job, folks!

If you’re still in need of a mask, Calgary is actually giving them away for in various places across the city, all of which you can view here! As for the businesses that have not yet put signs up, peace officers have said they will meet with business owners in order to see if or what they need in order to move forward.

Well, well, well, Calgary. You guys really impressed us, but keeping it up is the hard part. Remember, this is only the beginning! We’ve got a ways to go, but we believe in you!
