It’s National Tequila Day! Here are 5 places to celebrate in Calgary
Today we’re kicking off the weekend with National Tequila Day! If that’s not something to celebrate, we don’t know what is! Tonight, those who love and appreciate the drink, who aren’t going to stay in with a bottle of the good stuff to binge a series on Netflix, are going to want to go out. YYC has a ton of great cocktail bars that take this particular spirit preeetty serious, but which one should you hit up? We might be able to help you out with that! Here are 5 of the best tequila bars in Calgary!
Anejo
As a responsible tequila appreciate-tor, we definitely had to put Anejo at the very top of the list. At 200 different brands of the drink, they actually have the largest selection in all of Canada. These guys have everything from Blanco, Reposado and Anejo, to Extra Anejo. Their selection is aged to perfection and ranges from the affordable ($7) to the top of the line luxury brands, that’ll cost you $1,250 for a single oz. No, we’re not joking.

Chilitos

Have a drink, a shot, or a flight! At Chilitos, the menu is extensive and affordable. Pack a couple of tacos, and then take a flight to Tasty-Town with an aging tequila taster. Choose your favourite brand, and then try a Blanco, Reposado, and Anejo within the family, in order. Maybe even order a margarita to chase it! Also, if you happen to be there during happy hour, shots of tequila are actually 1/2 off!

Tropical
Tropical is a super fun little place with big drinks and big personality. It could be 30 below outside, and a night at Tropical will make you feel like you’re at a ‘disco’ on the beach somewhere. Their food is great, but their drink menu, which has a pretty large selection of tequila, is where the party is. If you’re looking for a way to really celebrate, this is the spot!

Proof
If you’ve ever been to Proof then you know that they take their alcohol very seriously. So while their tequila selection isn’t as long as others on the list, you can rest assured that what they do have has been carefully selected. Whether it’s just a ‘shots’ kind of night or a tequila cocktail evening, Proof won’t disappoint.

Blanco Cantina
Blanco has another extremely impressive tequila menu. These guys have a long list of Blanco’s, Reposado’s, Anejo, Extra Anejo, and Mezcal, each with a totally different flavour profile from the next. Like Anejo, they take pride in their selection and choose each with care.
