Still unsure about the whole ‘coronavirus testing procedure?’ Well, you’re in luck! Alberta will now be offering COVID testing at several neighbourhood pharmacies, making it a heck of a lot easier and more convenient to live your day to day with peace of mind.

“Alberta is a world leader in testing, and this will further expand our capacity,” Said Tyler Shandro, Alberta’s Minister of Health.

“By gradually expanding COVID-19 testing in community pharmacies, we continue to put safety first as we reopen the economy and get Albertans back to work.”

In the coming days, 20 local pharmacies (to start) across Alberta will begin COVID testing, sans brain poking nose stick! Instead, they will be using a simple throat swab, which is a relief. Which ones are doing this? Well, all we know so far is that the pharmacies will primarily be in Edmonton & Calgary. We’ll keep you updated on that.

To be tested by a pharmacist, patients will have to be asymptomatic and have no known exposures to COVID-19 for the safety of others, which is fair.

If this does not apply to you, and you have been exposed, AHS recommends that you call and make an appointment through their facility.

We continue to make progress, Alberta! We’re proud of you! Let’s keep trunkin’ and continue being as safe as we have been. We think we’ve got this!
