Calgary city council has officially voted to ban conversion therapy

Yesterday, something major happened, folks. It took several lengthy meetings, but in an almost unanimous vote, the Calgary city council actually banned conversion therapy.
“Today I’m especially proud to be a Calgarian. Calgary City Council successfully bans conversion therapy, to love without judgment and conditions,” said councillor Druh Farrell in a celebratory tweet.

The Mayor and all councillors, excluding Coun. Joe Magliocca, voted in favour of the ban in the very first reading. Magliocca was firm in his opposition, voting against the bylaw in the first, second, and third of the series.
Ultimately, after months of heated discussions, the final decision was 14-1 in support of the LGBTQ+ community.
Honestly, we couldn’t be prouder to live in a city where almost everyone is accepting and open-minded. This is incredible news, and a major win for love, equality, and human rights. Congrats on your historic decision, councillors!
