Take two of phase one! Premier Jason Kenney has announced that he is revisiting the possibility of Brooks and Calgary reopening its restaurants and salons, and will make a decision this Friday, May 22nd.

Kenney has said that if they do decide to go forward, Monday, May 25th will be the big day, giving businesses a lot more notice this time around. How exciting!

Last Thursday, ahead of the May 14th reopening, shops local to Calgary and Brooks were only told 18 hours before relaunch that the two cities would not be able to move forward, which left several bars and restaurants with overstock and rehired staff.

“I very much regret that more notice was not given,” Kenney said during a press conference Tuesday.  “I was expecting us to be able to proceed provincewide based on the indications I had received and based on the direction of the data, but [chief medical officer of health] Dr. [Deena] Hinshaw came to us with this advice.”

No matter the sequence of events, the Premier has assured the public that it will not happen again, and for our local business’s sake, we hope that that holds true!

We get that it’s better to be safe than sorry, in fact, we totally agree! But it takes us like, 18 hours to decide what we’re having for dinner. That’s definitely not enough time to make important business decisions!

But hey, the second time is a charm, right? That’s what they say, isn’t it?
