Well, well, well, we’ve got some pretty huge news. Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced on Thursday the plan for reopening Alberta’s economy.

The plan is laid out in stages so that we can avoid spreading COVID while getting some businesses and recreation options up and running. Looks like summer is on its way in more ways than one.

On May 4th, golf courses will be able to open throughout the province. Obviously, restrictions will be in place, including clubhouses and pro shops remaining closed to the public.

Along with that, certain provincial parks and boat launches will reopen, with online reservations for provincial campsites to begin on May 14th.

Finally, May 14th will be bringing some pretty big moves:

– Restaurants and cafés ( no bar service) can reopen with 50% public seating capacity.
– Retail businesses (clothing, furniture, farmers’ markets, etc.) can resume operations.
– Barbers, hairstylists can reopen.
– Daycares can resume with occupancy limits.
– Museums and art galleries can gradually reopen and resume operation.

So, that’s what Stage 1 of reopening looks like, and that’s what we’ll be able to enjoy come May! We’ll keep you updated as more information is provided.
