Here’s a weird moral dilemma- during times where self-isolation and social distancing are encouraged, is it better to cook at home or use a food delivery service from a local restaurant? On the one hand, it is a good idea to avoid interaction with people. On the other, local restaurants do, in fact, need your support more than ever.
Which is why we’re going to talk about how Uber Eats, SkipTheDishes and DoorDash are dealing with the coronavirus. What? You don’t have all three on your phone to see which one is offering the best deals? Come on, that’s a rookie mistake.

All three companies are offering contactless delivery, but there are a few differences between how they’re reacting. SkipTheDishes has, so far, implemented that, a sealed takeout bag option, and suspended cash payments. Meanwhile, DoorDash has focused on the drivers (a pretty sweet move), offering financial assistance to any employee who has been with the company for 60 days if they’ve contracted the virus.
Finally, Uber Eats announced the most drastic step this morning. They’re now waiving all delivery fees from independent, local restaurants until further notice. To take advantage of the offer, all you have to do is follow the EAT LOCAL banner on the app.
