Praise the prairies, folks! The University of Saskatchewan’s Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization-International Vaccine Centre (yes, we know that’s a mouthful) says they are in the testing stage of a coronavirus vaccine. Wowza, those Saskies sure move quickly.

They’ve announced that VIDO-InterVac is now testing this coronavirus vaccine in animals but that there is still a long road ahead before it will be ready for human use.

The CEO and Director of VIDO-InterVac, Volker Gerdts, said that “everything learned from the SARS outbreak” and other infections gives them a good idea of what this vaccine should look like. Alright, Volker, we’re counting on you!

In the past week, VIDO-InterVac was already given a million-dollar grant from the Canadian government to help fund the vaccine. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed and hope this bad boy comes through sooner rather than later. In the meantime (as always), wash your hands!
